Stupid, Stupid! iPod converter…

Well ever since my format I’ve had a problem, I forgot to backup the installation files for my DVD to iPod converter…

So I thought, what the hell, I’ll get the latest version, cause I had a version that was over 2 years old, but worked fine…

BAD IDEA!

The newest version was complete crap…

So I went and bought the Xilisoft stuff, and it seemed to work, so I recorded 4 DVDs worth of TV and what do you know? Audio was out of sync, by a long shot…

So I went digging, and found this:

First off, you need to decrease your audio bitrate to 160kbps or 128kbps (128kbps would be better as it guarantees iPod compatibility) as 5G/5.5G iPod can handle a maximum audio bitrate of 160kbps in videos.
Secondly, you might want to change the audio sample rate to 48KHz (or 48000). Part of the problem is that, with 44.1Khz (or 44100), you are re-sampling the audio. DVD audio is set to 48KHz so re-sampling down to 44.1KHz can actually decrease the audio quality (even though 99% of people can’t hear anything above 22KHz) and that might be causing the error.

What the f**k! Why would the iPod format profile set the settings to stuff that doesn’t work with the iPod?

And worst of all it’s hanging at 99%…
